Trunk Club Review

When I first moved to NYC I examined my wardrobe and realized I needed some adjustments. I just had my second child and I was feeling a little bland, in terms of style. I n-e-e-d-e-d a refresher so I naturally started Googling options. I came across Trunk Club and decided to sign up. I filled out all my current measurements, preferred styles and price range of what I would be willing to spend.

I was paired with a stylist…yes, you read that right. Trunk Club makes you feel sort of fancy. We began to communicate and I shared what I was looking for and she picked out an assortment of items for me to approve before shipping off my first trunk. At the time I was most interested in shoulder bags to make my commute in the city effortless and loose blouses that still offered a polished touch.

Fast forward to now. Before the Christmas break I was invited to the Trunk Club’s clubhouse in Manhattan. They were offering luxury gifting for purchases of $500 or more. I met my stylist for the first time in person and she took me to my very own fitting room. Lined up were specific items she had picked out for me based on what I expressed I desired beforehand. I thought to myself, this is how celebrities must feel. Ha! If only this was how my outfits for each day of the week were prepared.

My stylist expected me to keep it real and if I didn’t like something to just say so and she would find another option. At first I tried on a few items that I wasn’t super excited about and as time went on I became more comfortable and decided not to waste time and to get down to business. She worked with me and got to know me more and what I was looking for – cause sometimes I don’t even know what I am looking for until I see it, or try it on for that matter. I came to my appointment with a budget and ended up buying one high-end item and a less expensive one to balance my transaction.

Here are a few of my takeaways when comparing my two types of experiences with Trunk Club.

Receiving a Trunk by Mail
1. The $25 styling fee can be applied towards your purchase
2. I can try on everything in the comfort of my home
3. There are more options to choose from since their warehouse has plenty
4. If you are looking to save you will get more affordable options this route
5. You can approve your trunk before it is shipped and swap out items you don’t like

Attending the Trunk Club Clubhouse
1. You get to meet your stylist in person and they get more familiar with how things look on you and what styles you prefer
2. The appointment provides one on one interactions
3. Items at the clubhouse generally cost more since there is a smaller selection
4. They offer you a complimentary drink, this is always a nice touch
5. Your stylist walks you through different options of styling your attire

I encourage you to give Trunk Club a try. You choose how often a trunk is delivered to your address. It’s not a subscription service – so you only pay for a trunk when you are ready. And it all starts with a simple download of the app to your phone.
